Back in the High Life

Steve_winwood_2 Legendary British rocker Steve Winwood is returning to the music spotlight with a new album and tour this spring. On April 29, Winwood will release his new album Nine Lives on Columbia Records. It will mark his first album release since 2003's About Time.

"Dirty City," the first single off Nine Lives, features Winwood's longtime pal and collaborator Eric Clapton on guitar. The song is a great showcase of Clapton's signature guitar wails and Winwood's strong bluesy voice; it really is a stand out rock jam that sounds like it was recorded around 20 years ago at the height of Winwood's fame. Recently Winwood and Clapton joined forces again on stage for three sold-out performances at Madison Square Garden.

This spring Winwood will tour with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers for a national tour starting in late May. Be sure to catch these two stellar acts when they stop in the Atlanta area on July 9th at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park.

Underworld in Atlanta

Img035_3

Underworld finally made their first appearence in Atlanta on Friday night at Center Stage for just one of 2 shows in the US. The band used the gig as a warm-up show before their performance at the Winter Music Conference in Miami.

The band played a 2 hour set that included hits from all 6 of their CD's including Cowgirl from their debut Dubnobasswithmyheadman and the anthem Born Slippy that most people remember from the movie Trainspotting. At one point the band had several 20' inflatables on the stage. As expected the visuals/videos behind the band where amazing too. (apologies for the crap photos.. but you get the idea!)  www.myspace.com/underworld

Engineers and experts are currently assessing the building, and LiveNation will announce soon a schedule for repairs and concerts. Keep checking back with Atlanta Music Guide for more details.
